My approach to therapy
I have a practical and straightforward approach to therapy. My main focus is helping you to clarify and achieve your goals. Through discussion and exploration, we will work to understand what you would like to work on, what you have tried, and what is preventing you from making the changes you desire. I can help you with brief, solution focused therapy when appropriate or longer term therapy if needed.
My approach is collaborative and supportive, working with you to find what is most helpful. You and I will discuss what we are doing so that we clearly understand your concerns and how to make the changes you are seeking. I encourage you to ask any questions you need to clarify how we are working together.
I have a broad range of training and experience with different approaches to therapy. I primarily work from a cognitive, developmental, and humanistic perspective. I strive to use interventions that have been proven to be effective in helping people change. My primary concern is that you understand what we are doing and are able to apply the things we talk about in your daily life to make the changes you want.
